X-ray
imaging is the fastest and easiest way for a physician to view and
assess common abnormalities, such as broken or injured bones. A
chest x-ray is usually performed for the evaluation of lungs, heart
and surrounding anatomy.
The technologist may create several
images.
The technologist will position you for the exam, and then will ask
you to be still while they create the image. The technologist may
then reposition you for another view, and the process is repeated.
When the exam is over you may be asked to wait until the technologist
or radiologist reviews the images.
Your results will generally be available
to your physician in approximately 2-3 days, depending upon whether
we need to obtain other outside comparison exams.
Precautions:
Because of the risks of radiation exposure to the fetus, pregnant
women are advised to avoid this procedure.
