Dr. Jon Ekstrom
I practice my art everyday in Eugene, where I grew up and learned the importance of dedication and preparation. These common themes are present in most aspects of my life, and they link together the things which bring me the most joy. These are family, community, and medicine.
I carried these values of dedication, preparation and precision with me when I began to study medicine. As a radiologist I always seek to expand my knowledge of the human form. Every day I am in awe of the ways we are able to understand the human body more precisely through imaging.
When it came time to choose a place to practice medicine, the choice was simple. I knew I could be a better physician in Eugene because of that same sense of dedication and responsibility – to this community. The way people in this community care about each other shaped my values when I was growing up. Many of the friends I have in Eugene I have known my entire life and they have always been there for me. That is why coming back to Eugene to practice medicine was important to me. It is what I have prepared my whole life to do. I am helping to take care of the people in our community, in my community.
